Report : Claire Kirby.

South Somerset, were the first club to race the re-vamped Whiteway Barton circuit on Sunday, for Round Three of the Club Championship and the opening round of the Elite Youth League.
The sun shone which made for near perfect race conditions and some very good racing.
First out were the Open Class, which was won by Luke Mellows with three convincing wins. Ben Harman was second with three second places and Scott Gains third with three thirds.
Next out were the AMX and this was won by Darren Banwell with two wins and a second, followed home by Liam Taylor, who had a win in race two and Luke Heaver who was third.

The fast and exciting Rookies took to the track next with the stylish James Dunn making an appearance at South Somerset and taking a maximum. Tommy Alba rode well to earn a second overall and Jake Alsop improving all day to take third.
Next out came the Big Wheels, which were fast and furious with Harry Sherman having the edge to take three race wins. He was chased hard each time by Olly Jones who took second. Alec Carefoot was very unlucky with a nasty crash while leading the last race, dropping him out of the overall positions, thus giving third overall to the consistent Joshua Ebbutt.
The Small Wheels saw Conrad Mewse move up from the Juniors, but still with the same results with a great three race maximum. Todd Kellett chased hard all day, but had to be content with a second. The next three riders tied on points in a very close group, the position went to Billy King, courtesy of the last race decider.

The Juniors battled all day with Bradley Flagg taking all three wins, followed home by Conor Ford in second, with Lewis Thomas taking a last race second place to secure the third overall. Lucy Calvert kept the girls flag flying with two third places and a fourth, really unlucky not to make the top three.
The Autos rode very well on a shortened but very demanding track, so very well done to all. Louis Townsend led them home in all three races, followed by Lewis Wright in second and Jason Down in third. Thomas Darlow, Edward Hoddinott and Alfie Calvert all rode extremely well to complete the top six.
For all our club members it was fantastic to see Ty Kellett back racing after his horrendous injuries at Weston Supermare. He only just missed out on a top six finish – Well Done Ty !.
Hope to see you all at Bere Regis for Round Four.
