  15. We are pleased to announce that after South West’s EGM, they voted to take their club forward by affiliating to the MC Federation, this means The West of England Youth MX Championship is now up and running. More details will soon be available after both clubs have finalized dates and venues. To take part in the WoEYMXC, all you have to do is become a member of South Somerset, South West or both. This means with one licence you will now be able to compete in three championships if you so wish. You will also be involved in the Elite Youth League and if you qualify for it, The Grand Slam.
Both clubs are really excited about this new collaboration and believe it to be a great opportunity for youth and adult riders alike. MCF for their part have been very proactive in the WoE concept and will do all they can to make this a true West of England Championship.
To find out more, go to www.westofenglandmxc.com.

  16. Hello,
Having just read (and re read) the proposal for The West of England Youth MX Championship, I would just like to add my own opinion that I'm very much in favour of the idea and, indeed any idea that involves cooperation between the clubs in the South West.

One of the reasons I like motocross and consider it good for the kids is the high level of cooperation that individuals exhibit on race days, helping each other out with parts and the like with even the youngest kids sometimes seen advising each other on lines to take around the track and the like. Then comes the race with the competition out on the track where it belongs and which can be as fierce as you like.

I suspect my son is faced with the same dilema as many with friends in more than one club but the clashing of race dates meaning he will have to choose between one club or another (and hence one group of friends or another) or else do a bit of both and come nowhere in either championship. Fingers crossed the West of England championship is a way around this.

With rider numbers depleting I would guess cooperation between clubs has to happen and wish all the clubs good fortune in 2012.
    Cheers,
    Tony

  33. Hello all,
Below is all the info you need to get to the Autumn series dates for the club.

    Phoenix Motopark TQ12 3QB N 50.57081
    W03.57884

    Landrake PL12 5EP N 50.42322
    W 04.29887

    Enmore TA5 2EP N 51.08943
    W 03.08368

As a reminder, the sat nav coordinates get you to the point you turn off the public road and go to the event.
You can also put the coordinates into google maps to get a view as to where you are going and, usually a shot of the track (some of the satellite views are old and taken before the track was built) To do this put the numbers in seperated by a coma and put a minus sign before the last number - Phoenix is 50.57081,-03.57884 To try this, copy and paste it into google maps, click on satellite and there's the track.

Would like to add to the compliments about the club and looking forward to a full years racing on the 65 next year (my son moved from the autos up half way through the season)
    Cheers,
    Tony

  41. The sun is about to set on South Somerset's summer club champ's. The final Rnd and members last chance to qualify for MCF's Grand Slam will draw to its conclusion this weekend Monday 29th at Cusses Gorse. Cusses is yet another fabulous venue, one of many used by the club this season. After this weekend club members will be allowed to drop their six worst moto's. The top six riders from Auto to MX2 will automatically qualify for the Grand Slam leaving the club to pick a wild card rider (club member) from each group to make seven riders in all from each group to attend Culham on the 2nd of October. Good luck to all. A 3 Rnd Autumn series will begin at Phoenix Motoparc on September the 18th. If you want to be apart of this rapidly moving club or ride at Cusses Gorse book in at southsomersetmx.com. 2012 dates will soon be available. No Marshall Required.

  65. Busy time at SSMXC
We have a busy few weeks a head. With the Grand Slam creeping ever closer the first meeting of a hectic month is at Morleigh, Devon Sunday 19th June, this natural hill side track has it all, even its own sprinkler system. The very next weekend 26th June we will be revisiting Pontrilas, following on from last years very successful Ty Kellett charity meeting we held there. Rhino Goo will be with us, they are taking motor sport by storm, and the product is totally safe, unlike some cleaners on the market, they will be doing some mega deals, a lot less than RRP. At the end of this hectic month we will be at the immaculate Landrake on the 16/17th of July. The Mylaps/AMB timing system has gone down a storm, especially the new Flex transponder, this is only available through South Somerset thanks to our link with MCF and Mylaps. We have some in stock and ready to go. Give Wendy a call on the club phone.

  75. FREE MCFEDERATION LICENCE Limited offer

South Somerset in its partnership with MCF and Mylaps is the first club in the world to use the new AMB Mylaps flex transponder and the only club that has access to them at present, for that reason we are offering any non-members the chance to purchase one for £90 (all in) at any of our race meetings if pre ordered. These transponders can be used on any AMB motocross timing system and we will also give you a free MCF licence or club membership, your choice. Order one at Enmore and at our next race meeting Little Silver on May 1st we will give you free hire of one of our transponders when you get your new flex transponder as it will need charging before you can use it. This is a limited offer and very popular as you will easily be able to recoup your money this year. Club members call Wendy for your unbeatable deal. 07769215933

  81. Hello,
Here are the sat Nav coordinates for Brookthorpe:- N 51.82143
    W 02.21943
We've been there twice before and it's a track full of features and variations. Track itself is clay (I think) and tends to hold on to water should it rain.
Forcast is good for Sat and Sun however.
Hoping to see you all there,
    Tony

  85. Anybody considering a flex transponder ?
The postage is 22 euros for anywhere between 1 and 4 units so obviously its cheaper to buy in bulk and share the postage.
I want to order one before Brookthorpe ,anyone else want to save money and order at the same time ?

  90. Hello everyone,
Here are the sat nav coordinates for Phoenix motoparc, also known as Whiteway Barton:- N 50.57081, W03.57884.
These coordinates, as always, take you to the point where you leave the public roads and join the track that leads you to the event.
If you cut and paste 50.57081,-03.57884 into goole maps and click on satelite view, you'll see where the coordinates take you and a photo of the track.
We (dad and auto rider son) like this track and are looking forward to seeing the changes.
    See you all there,
    Tony

  93. Transponder info

Any members who are considering buying a second hand transponder should make sure that they are a motocross transponder which is orange in colour; If the base is white as opposed to black it will be AMCA specific and will only work on an AMCA system. The black based one works on all mylaps mx systems so thats the one you want.
If the transponder has been registered on mylaps.com by the previous owner you will need to pay a fee to get it re-registered to have full use of it on mylaps; You should consider this against the price you are paying for it, as they have been selling for £180-£190 on ebay which is what they used to cost new. You can acquire a new one if you shop around or import for around £215 (see links), register this on mylaps and you have a 3 year warranty which you won't have with a second hand one.

    Hope this helps

    Paul
